Patient Rights

At Delhi Hospital, we are committed to protecting the rights and dignity of every patient. As a patient, you have the right to:

  • Receive considerate, respectful and compassionate care regardless of age, gender, religion, caste, nationality or ailment.
  • Know the identity and professional status of the doctors, nurses and staff involved in your care, and to know which doctor is primarily responsible for your treatment.
  • Receive clear information about your diagnosis, proposed treatment, expected results, possible risks and the estimated cost of treatment, in a language you understand.
  • Give informed consent before any procedure, and to refuse treatment to the extent permitted by law after being told the consequences.
  • Seek a second opinion and to have your reports and records made available for that purpose.
  • Privacy and confidentiality of your medical condition and records; information will not be shared without your consent except as required by law.
  • Safe, hazard-free care with adequate infection-control, safe medication and a safe environment.
  • Know the expected cost of treatment and to receive an itemised bill, with an explanation of the charges.
  • Voice complaints and grievances about your care and to be informed of the process for doing so and its outcome.
  • Protection from physical abuse, neglect and being left unattended.

Patient Responsibilities

To help us provide the best possible care, patients and their families are requested to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information about present and past medical history, medications and allergies.
  • Follow the treatment plan advised by the doctor and inform the care team if you are unable to do so.
  • Respect the hospital rules, timings and the rights of other patients and staff.
  • Treat hospital staff, property and other patients with courtesy and consideration.
  • Fulfil the financial obligations for the services provided as promptly as possible.
  • Not carry valuables; the hospital is not responsible for personal belongings.
